Governance and leadership

Governance is the system by which organisations are directed and controlled. It focuses especially on the relationship between a board of directors, the shareholders and other stakeholders. It takes account of the nature and consequences of these relationships - duties, responsibilities and impacts - on corporate strategy and performance.

Asking Conduct Becoming to review your governance arrangements is a powerful way for you to gain a firm grasp on the crucial social, environmental and ethical issues faced by your organisation's leadership. With the United Kingdom Companies Act 2006 and other new initiatives and regulations, there has never been a time of greater change in the regulatory framework or more guidance available on best-practice governance. Issues on which Conduct Becoming advises include:

  • mission, vision and values
  • organisation strategy
  • systemic leadership
  • standards of probity
  • ethical codes of conduct
  • reputation and risk management
  • disclosure and transparency
  • licence to operate
  • whistleblowing
